Anthem Inc., a publicly traded health insurer, bought Simply Health Holdings, a Coral Gables-based managed care company, for an estimated $1 billion (the sale price still has not been released). Policyholders should expect no changes to their healthcare coverage. The deal could take as long as five months to close, due to regulatory approval from several state and federal agencies.

Simply Healthcare was founded in 2010 and covers more that 192,000 residents in Florida that are on either Medicare of Medicaid via two affiliates, Simply Healthcare Plans and Better Health. It also offers Clear Health Alliance, a Medicaid specialty plan available for people with HIV/AIDS.

Anthem (formerly WellPoint Inc.) offers coverage in 26 states. Its presence in Florida is due to its affiliate, Amerigroup.
