/In this article by EHR Intelligence, College of Healthcare Information Management Executive (CHIME) and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) are offering their opinions at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC).
Mainly they state that the departure of many ONC leaders such as Doug Fridsma, MD, PhD, Judy Murphy, RN, and Jacob Reider, MD could negatively impact the innovation and adoption of health IT.
However, there is some good news. Karen DeSalvo, is being appointed as the Acting Assistant Secretary Health of this program.
“Dr. DeSalvo will serve as Acting ASH while maintaining her leadership of ONC,” DeSalvo and Acting National Coordinator Lisa Lewis wrote Health IT Buzz. “She will remain the chair of the Health IT Policy Committee; she will continue to lead on the development and finalization of the Interoperability Roadmap; and she will remain involved in meaningful use policymaking. She will also continue to co-chair the HHS cross-departmental work on delivery system reform.”
