Collaboration Is What Doctors Want To Improve The U.S. Healthcare System

According to an article from the Utica Observer-Dispatch, “a coalition of dozens of area health and human service agencies” were commissioned by the state of New York “to improve the quality of health care and reduce avoidable hospital admissions 25 percent in five years.”

The program, called the Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP), aims to create better healthcare and reduce costs by reducing patient readmissions. It is also designed to reduce barriers to care, reduce bureaucracy between services, and better integrate those services so “health, mental health and substance abuse can all be addressed together.”

The DSRIP program demonstrates how collaboration between different organizations and fewer communication barriers can create a more efficient healthcare system.
