Dallas Area Physician Association Partners Forms Coordinated Care Model With Well-Being Group
/Genesis Physicians Group (GPG), one of Texas’ largest independent physician associations, is partnering with Tennessee’s Healthways to form a coordinated care model called GenHealth. The new entity aims to keep patients healthy through active engagement outside of the hospital setting. Genesis Accountable Physician Network (GAPN), a GPG-affiliated ACO, will also be partnering with the new enterprise. GPG and GAPN officials believe that partnering with groups like Healthways, known as an industry-leader in patient-directed wellness programs and care management, is what’s needed to truly optimize care across the Medicare population.
“As GAPN developed plans and processes to coordinate the care of Medicare and future commercial patient populations, we came to realize that we needed a partner with the critical assets, expertise and experience in delivering proven value. Further, we wanted that partner to show the necessary flexibility to help us build a comprehensive population management solution that would work in concert with our existing market offerings,” said Dr. James W. Walton, president and CEO of GPG and GenHealth, in an interview with MarketWatch.
