Emdeon Makes Second Major Acquisition of 2014
/Emdeon, a revenue cycle management and health IT solution company, is planning to purchase Change Healthcare for $135 million. The deal will also include an additional $50 million depending on Change Healthcare’s achievement of financial performance objectives by the end of 2017.
Change Healthcare was founded in 2007 to offer cost transparency and consumer engagement tools that employers and health plans can use to reduce spending. Emdeon purchased Change Healthcare for its transparency and personalization capabilities, in order to add more value to the services they provide their consumers.
This is Emdeon’s second major acquisition this year after purchasing Capario last June for $115 million. Emdeon is the 4th largest private company in Nashville, with $1.2 billion in revenue for 2013 and 880 local employees.
