What are the Financial Incentives in Healthcare?

Some doctors argue that they may need to vary their advised standards in order to benefit a particular patient. However, too many physicians do not follow accepted standards, due to not having adequate knowledge of the norms.

There is no doubt that patients should be considered individually. However, the norms of care benefit the majority of patients. Financial rewards for performance may not be the best way to encourage great physician behavior. Nevertheless, it is important to look at other ways to improve healthcare in the U.S.
