Google's Wearable Competition is Valuable for the Healthcare Industry
/Google hosted its Wearables in Healthcare Pilot Challenge to encourage innovation in the industry. Some of the inventions presented included a Google Glass invention that can help the legally blind see, an app like Twitter that allows hospitals to prepare for ambulance arrivals, and a meditation assister that can read your mind. There were 89 submissions to the competition, and 11 were selected for the final round. The winner of the challenge is Brian Caulfield, director of the Insight Centre for Data Analytics at University College Dublin. He created a virtual therapist to help patients recovering from orthopedic surgery.
