Demand for healthcare services continues to grow in conjunction with the demand for more healthcare workers. Regardless of what is going on in the broader U.S. economy, healthcare continues to progress further. This promising outlook means more jobs and increased prosperity to the healthcare field.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, the healthcare sector saw considerable job growth in May adding 46,800 jobs. This addition outperforms previous months as hiring continues to expand. Nursing sees the smallest jump with only 300 new jobs added. In contrast with the long-term trend, ambulatory services saw the highest jump adding 28,000 new jobs and hospitals gained 16,000 new jobs.

The total U.S. economy added 280,000 jobs in May with the unemployment rate remaining at 5.5%. In comparison, the healthcare industry lost no jobs in May and added 408,000 jobs in the past year. This continued growth will benefit all sectors of healthcare and lead to more prosperity and expansion overall.
