If Gronk Can Save His Money, You Can Too
/The majority of NFL players blow away their salaries in the spotlight of fortune and fame, typically avoiding the looming thought of retirement from the NFL. After 5 seasons playing for the New England Patriots, Rob Gronkowski amazingly has not spent any of his $16.3 million total career salary. The 26-year-old lives off of his endorsement money from BodyArmor, SuperDrink, and Dunkin’ Donuts. Frugality and wisdom are key to preparing for retirement and Gronkowski is doing just that. Gronkowski even said that he still wears his favorite pair of jeans from high school.
He is also still making the most of his earning potential having signed a six-year, $54 million contract with an $8 million signing bonus after his second season. He has invested those earnings in tax-free municipal bonds after taking advice from his father and writes about these financial plans in his upcoming autobiography “It’s Good to be the Gronk”. He may be living like an underpaid rookie now, but he’ll certainly be going into retirement comfortably with his millions.
