New Rule by Supreme Court Raises Controversy

In this article by the New York Times, the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Care Act in 2011.

Because of this decision about 8 to 11 million Americans were able to receive Healthcare insurance. However this decision has caused an opening for a lot of attacks by their opponents.

Although they had failed to stop the law in 2012, they will have another chance this upcoming Monday to prevent this law from taking place. Their argument is that there should be no subsidies for anyone living in the 36 states where federal government did not establish a health exchange after state officials did not.

However, their claims have been discarded because it contradicts the purpose of making healthcare widely available. Despite the controversy, the Affordable Care Act has improved the lives of many low income Americans.
