Online Rating Sites For Physicians Influence Parents' Decision
/As technology becomes more integrated into the field of medicine, there will be more metrics to evaluate the performance of physicians. Much of this information is already readily available and commonly used by the public.
According to the University of Michigan, “Almost three-quarters (74%) of parents are aware of online rating sites for physicians, and more than one-quarter (28%) have used those online ratings to choose a healthcare provider for their children.”
Lead author of the paper David Hanauer says, “These review sites have the potential to change the patient-physician relationship and transform it into more of a service-focused, consumer-provider relationship.”
The information patients find online about healthcare providers is one of the biggest factors that cause them to choose one physician over another.
