Physicians Are Now Offering Warranties On Operations They Perform

According to a recent article by the LA Times, many health organizations around the country are now offering warranties on operations they perform. Usually, this entails treating any subsequent problems that arise related to the procedure at no additional cost.

As Robert Minkin, an executive at a California healthcare consulting firm puts it, “Providers are now trying to use retail tactics to differentiate themselves.”

The introduction of warranties to the field of medicine is another example that demonstrates the shift in healthcare occurring, in which physicians are reimbursed for the quality of their care and the outcomes patients experience rather than simply for the number of procedures they perform.
