Troubles Persist In Second Year Of The ACA
/The second year of the ACA seems to be bringing even more trouble. According to the Wall Street Journal, “Tens of thousands of people are likely to lose their health insurance at the end of this month because they missed a deadline to confirm they are legally residing in the U.S.” Additionally, people who cannot verify their income by the deadline may also see their coverage in jeopardy.
The reason for this lies in some of the early technological problems faced by the www.healthcare.gov website when it was first launched. During this time, the government was unable to verify the citizenship status and income of many enrollees. The government has issued multiple reminders to those affected that they need to verify this information. Still, more than a third haven’t responded as the deadline looms.
Those who lose their coverage because of this can reenroll at any time, given they meet the requirements.
