Here are 10 facts about the ICD-10 transition from the Center of Medicare & Medicaid Services:

1. The ICD-10 compliance date is October 1, 2015.
2. You don’t have to use all 68,000 ICD-10 codes.
3. The process of looking up an ICD-10 is the same as looking up an ICD-9 code.
4. Outpatient and office procedure codes remain the same.
5. All Medicare Fee-For-Service providers will have a chance to test their systems before October 1st.
6. If you can’t submit claims electronically by October 1, you still have several options
7. Only claims that use ICD-10 codes will be accepted for services provided on or after October 1st.
8. Your reimbursement for outpatient and physician office procedures will not be determined by ICD-10 codes.
9. The cost of switching to ICD-10 may be much lower than expected.
