Finally, The VA Is Making It Easier For Veterans To Obtain Health Care At Private Facilities

It has not been the best Memorial Day Weekend for Veteran Affairs (VA) Secretary Eric K. Shinseki. The Obama administration announced that the VA is enhancing the capacity at its clinics and allowing more veterans access to health care at private hospitals.  Shinseki stated that the VA is “increasing the care we acquire in the community through non-VA care.” An agency spokeswoman told the Associated Press what was announced on Saturday will make it easier for veterans to get medical care at non-VA facilities. Long waits and even deaths of veterans before they were able to receive care has spawn outrage throughout the country. Dr. Eric Wechsler, a Fellow of the National Kidney Foundation and someone who has seen first hand what happens at the VA(What were you doing at the VA) believes ("say you believe veterans should be able to access the private marketplace and why.")

There have been different proposals regarding physician reimbursement for these consults but Dr. Wechsler's position ("in your own words you think physicians should be reimbursed at Medicare rates and why")
