Due to reports last week that information, such as a consumer’s income and tobacco usage, was going to third parties from HealthCare.gov, the Obama administration seems to be making an effort to provide heightened security for people’s personal information. The Associated Press reported that numerous companies had connections on the HealthCare.gov website.

One change to HealthCare.gov that has been implemented is that the website is no longer sending out details, such as age, income, ZIP code, tobacco use, and if a woman is pregnant. Mehdi Daodi, CEO of Catchpoint Systems, which measures website performance, says that the number of embedded connections to outside companies has dropped from 50 to 30. One suggestion for HealthCare.gov would be to disable third-party tracking for people who enable the “do not track” feature on their web browsers.
