Dell Medical School Dean Calls for a Seismic Shift in Healthcare

The dean of Dell Medical School, Clay Johnston, spoke at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center on January 23rd. He called for a new healthcare revolution that shifts healthcare toward developing innovations in education and information processing. Johnston suggested that the healthcare industry follows the Lean Startup model, which stresses preventive healthcare measures. Johnston stated, "Healthcare accounts for 18% of the U.S. economy, and, yet, it's powered by technology that's really 50 years old." Consequently, he highly encourages future medical students to be leaders in health care innovation.
